Overview & HistoryQuickBird SpecificationsPricing

QuickBird, the world’s second commercial high resolution satellite, was launched by DigitalGlobe on October 18, 2001 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. Until 2007, QuickBird offered industry-leading panchromatic and 4-band multispectral (i.e. blue, green, red and near-infrared) resolution.

In 2011 the orbital height of QuickBird was increased to 482 kilometers (km), and by early 2013 it will have declined to 450 km. This satellite collects an impressive 75 million square km of imagery each year and offers the largest historical archive of high resolution satellite data available. As of December 17, 2014, QuickBird is no longer collecting new data.
