Commercial satellite imagery continues to improve in quality and resolution as Maxar leads the way with 30-cm resolution data. To build on this success, Maxar is now offering improved clarity with their HD imagery product. By employing proprietary HD processing, native 50-cm Maxar imagery is resampled to 30-cm; and then native 30-cm imagery is resampled to 15-cm. While this does not change the original ground sampling distance, it sharpens the image and improves clarity on linear features, such as road lines and building edges.
Increased clarity and sharpness make applications like counting cars that much easier, further smaller objects are easier to discern. In areas where a new collection of 30-cm imagery is either cost prohibitive or too difficult due to clouds and/or competition, customers can take advantage of existing 50-cm imagery with HD processing to achieve the clarity they need. With HD, Maxar’s extensive archive of 50-cm imagery is now available at 30-cm. As Maxar’s new constellation of 30-cm Legion satellites deploys, the availability of 30-cm and 15-cm HD imagery will increase exponentially.
