DigitalGlobe Basemap – A Worldwide Imagery Solution – Focus on the European Union

Do you have the need for regularly updated images of locations around the world?

Perhaps you need imagery to integrate with an OEM solution you are developing?

Or maybe your organization uses large amounts of high-resolution imagery each year, and you are seeking a low-cost option for this data?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then the solution you are looking for is DigitalGlobe Basemap (GBM).

With DigitalGlobe Basemap, you have access to millions of square kilometers of imagery with low cloud-cover and off-nadir angles. This data is accessible in streaming web-mapping services as well as through an online viewer. And perhaps the most important feature of GBM is the regular updates you can receive as out-dated imagery is often of little or no use to our valued clients.

June 2016 Product Update

The available DigitalGlobe Basemap imagery over the European Union by location and the most recent coverage date. In the vast majority of locations, there are multiple imagery dates available.

From a look at the GBM coverage over the United States last month, in July we move the focus to our neighbors across the pond, the European Union (EU). And while there is not a 90% coverage less than 12 months guarantee over the EU, you can see that the coverage is still quite extensive! In fact, here are some coverage statistics on the availability of imagery over the EU in GBM as of June 15, 2016:

  • European Union GBM Coverage By Year
    • Less than 1 year (yr) old – 6,752,799 sq km, 68.29% coverage of the EU
    • 1 to 2 yr old – 6,636,346 sq km, 67.11% coverage
    • 2 to 3 yr old – 6,063,381 sq km, 61.32% coverage
    • 3 to 4 yr old – 2,997,801 sq km, 30.32% coverage
    • 4 yr old and greater – 8,329,663 sq km, 84.23% coverage
    • Total coverage – 330,779,990 sq km
