Your Imagery Work Break – 2019 Sziget Festival

We love maps.

We love imagery.

We love work breaks.

We hope you like them as well!

The seasons always fly by when you are having fun, or working too hard! So before summer is gone, make sure you get outside for a quick walk, a bike ride or even a yoga class. But before you head out, take a gander at this 50-centimeter WorldView-2 image collected over Budapest, Hungary on August 11, 2019. And what makes this image special you might ask, well the 2019 Sziget Festival is in full affect as you can see from the multi-colored tents, stages, and yes even small specks that are people! The multi-genre music festival has been held since 1993 (minus 2020 and unfortunately 2021 due to the COVID pandemic) on the 267-acre (108-hectare) forested island of Óbudai-sziget (also called the Island of Freedom) located in the Danube River. The 2019 edition of the festival ran from August 7th to the 13th and it drew some 565,000 fans to see headliners which included Ed Sheeran, the Foo Fighters, Post Malone and Richie Hawtin. Hopefully the COVID crisis will be contained in the next year so that the Sziget Festival can return to Budapest in 2022!

Have a great rest of your workday!
