RapidEye Kicks Off 2013 North American Agricultural Imaging Campaign

Major agricultural areas, including the ‘Corn Belt’, to be imaged four times over four months

Berlin, Germany, May 13, 2013 – RapidEye, a leader in medium-resolution, wide area repetitive coverage of the Earth through its constellation of five satellites, announced today that its 2013 North American Ag Imaging Campaign will begin May 15th.

This is the second year for the campaign, which will task 2.9 million square kilometers covering most major agricultural areas in the US, including the ‘corn belt’, and Canada. The entire campaign, which runs through September 15th, will cover these areas once each month, producing over 11.5 million square kilometers of imagery for agricultural monitoring.

“What we’re offering to our customers is a unique subscription-based service that leverages the latest web technologies to make imagery available to them as quickly and easily as possible,” said Clint Graumann, Director for North America. “The current data, as well as the 2012 data, will be cloud-hosted and processed as RapidEye Level 3A products ready for immediate download.”

Plans are already in the works to introduce the same subscription model over other agricultural regions of the world later this year.
