Free For All – Public Online Records Directory

Parcels, parcels and more parcels! When poking around the web for last month’s Free For All, I came across another site that will be the focus of this August 2014 edition. This site, Public Online Records Directory, contains links to the assessor’s, recorder’s, treasurer’s and/or GIS offices of every county in the United States with an online presence. Depending on the county’s organizational structure, parcel data and detailed property information maybe collated and disseminated by one or all of these offices – so you will need to do a bit of exploration to figure out who is the data holder for the county in question. Also, keep in mind that some of the links on this site are broken but the vast majority are working.

One other interesting freebie on this site is the ability to determine which county a city is contained in.

Until my next edition of the Free For All, happy hunting for free geospatial goodies!
