DigitalGlobe Basemap – A Worldwide Imagery Solution – Focus on Australia

Do you have the need for regularly updated images of locations around the world?

Perhaps you need imagery to integrate with an OEM solution you are developing?

Or maybe your organization uses large amounts of high-resolution imagery each year, and you are seeking a low-cost option for this data?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then the solution you are looking for is DigitalGlobe Basemap (GBM).

With DigitalGlobe Basemap, you have access to millions of square kilometers of imagery with low cloud-cover and off-nadir angles. This data is accessible in streaming web-mapping services as well as through an online viewer. And perhaps the most important feature of GBM is the regular updates you can receive as out-dated imagery is often of little or no use to our valued clients.

August 2016 Product Update

The available DigitalGlobe Basemap imagery over Australia by location and the most recent coverage date. In the vast majority of locations, there are multiple imagery dates available.

Our focus last month was Sub Saharan Africa, and this month we move to the continent down-under with a look at the GBM coverage over Australia. And we have to admit that we are rather impressed with the amount of Australia covered with imagery less than 12 months old – in fact the coverage is over 90% of the country! Here are the rest of the eye-popping stats for you.

  • Australia GBM Coverage By Year
    • Less than 1 year (yr) old – 7,025,759 sq km, 91.40% coverage of Australia
    • 1 to 2 yr old – 5,867,291 sq km, 76.32% coverage
    • 2 to 3 yr old – 5,332,916 sq km, 69.38% coverage
    • 3 to 4 yr old – 2,309,903 sq km, 30.05% coverage
    • 4 yr old and greater – 7,652,825 sq km, 99.56% coverage
Total coverage – 28,188,694 sq km
