Wow, This Data is AMAZING!! Check Out These Stunning 40-cm WorldView-3 Images

With the start of commercial WorldView-3 imagery sales in October, we were able to get our hands on some full resolution 40-cm color over Barcelona, Spain. And to say we were blown away with the quality of the data is an understatement!!

Without a doubt, this is the highest quality satellite imagery available on the market. Even at 40-cm resolution, this data rivals the clarity and detail you can see in 30-cm aerial imagery given how exact the optics on WorldView-3 are. And then, there are the colors, do not even get me started – they look as natural and realistic as anything we have ever seen!

Here are some thoughts about WorldView-3 data after having a chance to preview the 40-cm color imagery of Barcelona provided to us by DigitalGlobe:

  1. The level of detail seen in 40-cm color WorldView-3 imagery cannot be rivaled by any commercial satellite on the market.
  2. You are able to resolve new features never seen in satellite imagery before, including thin structural beams, pipes and even roof top heating/cooling units. We expect these features to be even more apparent when 30-cm WorldView-3 data is available starting Q1 2015.
  3. The saturation and vibrance of color WorldView-3 imagery is absolutely incredible. It’s only close rival is color imagery from its older sibling, WorldView-2!
  4. Without a question, we recommend having all WorldView-3 data produced at 40-cm resolution.
