Check out the new and improved NASA website at NASA.gov! They have revamped the site design, cutting down on clutter and making it easier for users to find events being broadcast live. NASA intends to continue improving the look and feel of the site along with lots of back-end updates. They are also moving all of their content to a new open-source system and data center. Go take a look, click on stuff and enjoy!
NASA just successfully tested its largest 3-D printed rocket engine component. The part, an injector, delivers propellants to a combustion chamber generating 20,000 pounds of thrust. That’s 10 times more than any other 3-D printed injector previously tested by NASA. This successful test moves NASA closer to creating more cost-effective parts for its missions without sacrificing safety and efficiency.

Lassoing an asteroid…
OK, so maybe we’re not technically ‘lassoing’ an asteroid, but the mental images are very entertaining. NASA released a new animation in an effort to burst my bubble and depict how the operation will really go down. It is pretty darn cool, especially since they are using the moon as a catapult.

NASA is preparing for another mission to Mars following Curiosity’s first successful year on the red planet. The Mars Atmosphere and Volatiles Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft is being prepared to launch in November of this year. MAVEN will collect data that will help scientists reconstruct the history of Mars’ atmosphere, climate along with its habitability.
