To celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Spitzer Space Telescope, NASA released a digital calendar showcasing some of the top discoveries and infrared images taken by the telescope. Launched on August 25, 2003, Sptizer has made numerous discoveries, from asteroid collisions to planet detection to the largest ring circling Saturn. It was the first telescope to detect light from exoplanets, relaying information on the planet’s temperature, orbit and atmosphere outside of our own solar system. Spitzer is still going strong and continues to provide startling discoveries and breathtaking images. Check it out for yourself and download this amazing calendar here.
