As NASA gears up for deep space missions with the Orion capsule and the Space Launch System (SLS), they released a new application for smart phones and tablets that lets the user experience these systems up-close and personal. NASA 3DV allows users to see 3D models of the SLS and Orion as well as see the SLS on the launch pad and simulate its launch into space. The app lets you move around the objects by maneuvering your device so you can walk around and view them in detail. While it will be some time before the SLS will actually sit on the launch pad ready to hurtle Orion into space, NASA 3DV gives you a first look into the future of space exploration.
